Ansuman Agarwal is the founder of Voicely, where he builds AI voice agents that answer and place business calls in English, Hindi and nine more Indian languages, including callers who code-switch between them inside a single sentence. He works on the runtime that holds those conversations: the timing that decides when a caller has finished speaking, tuned per language against recordings of real calls, and the per-turn measurements kept on every call so that a complaint about a slow agent can be checked rather than argued about. He writes here about what a live phone line teaches that a demo cannot.

- Is AI calling legal in India? What TRAI changed
TRAI gazetted new rules on 18 September 2026 for automated and AI voice calls, with a declaration duty. What changed, and what to ask before you sign.
- Why voice AI agents fail on real phone calls — and the fix for each
Eight ways a voice AI agent fails once it leaves the demo and meets a real phone line, each with the fix and the question that shows whether a vendor has done it.
- Why a voice AI agent interrupts callers, and how to stop it
Your AI voice agent talks over callers and cuts them off mid-sentence. The three causes we found on real phone calls, and the tests that show which one you have.
- Why voice AI built for English struggles on Indian calls
Two things break voice agents on Indian phone lines: the distance to the servers, and callers who use two languages in one sentence. Both are measurable.
- What four phone calls taught us that the tests did not
Our first real phone call took four attempts, and three of them found a defect every automated test had passed. What that says about buying voice AI.
- Nine questions to ask a voice AI vendor before you sign
The questions that separate a vendor who has run voice agents on real phone lines from one who has run good demos. Written for the person signing.
